Wow - Time Flies...

So much has been going on since I last updated - I will try to remember everything and here we go...

First of all, there was an issue with DISH Network at the beginning of the month, so I still have no television - however, this issue was supposedly reconciled over the last two weeks, so hopefully will be setting things up on the 2nd of July. I have learned not to get too excited over anything lately, so I will just have to wait and see... luckily I can watch "True Blood" online until TV is available.

I am down to one animal - my cat Crookshanks. The dog - Shadow - went to a woman that has braces on her legs that needed a service dog right away. I am happy for him, he really is a good dog for this, and I know he will be treated well. Luna, my black cat, went to live with my neighbors behind me. I see her several times a day still, and have the comfort of knowing that she's loved, and happy. I had adopted another kitten - also black - named Nightmare... unfortunately she didn't work out as I believe she was too young to be away from her mother - so she was returned to the woman that I got her from. Anyway, Crookshanks is probably the best and coolest cat I've ever had - and I'm glad he's still around. I have no plans in the future to let him go. Not only that, but I may be getting into an apartment soon - so perhaps it's a good thing that there's only one animal left. Fate? Coincidence? Who knows. But it all worked out.

My social calendar has picked up a few new things - besides basket weaving, I'm also doing ceramics - and we go to the Corral Association Events whenever they are held as well. Add this to the crocheting and Sit & Stitch, and I have a pretty full calendar every week. I don't always make it to everything, but I try.

Work has picked up, as it always does around this time of the year... two new sites are being done. One for the store where I do my crochet - called "Creations".... this will be a full web site, which will include a full catalog that you can order from. My first store site - it will take me a little longer than my others as the catalog will have thousands of items that will have to be inventoried. I HAVE, however, started the template and it's really nice. :-) The other site I can show you the beginnings of - it's Dreams of Dying - a feature film that's being directed by my adopted brother, and starring my adopted sister, lol... they have a Facebook page for it as well - so you can keep up to date on what's going on with the production. It sounds like a cool flick - and I'm really excited that I'm involved with getting things together for it. Also doing updates on Nick McCallum and Natalie Avital's sites (this being my adopted bro and sis) - and learning cool new tricks for them too. It's always fun to work with fun people - and these are fun people... love them dearly. So yeah, pretty busy in the work department - which is good because...

My plan is to head back down to Los Angeles to celebrate my birthday... I won't be going ON my birthday as it's in the middle of the week - however, I will be heading out on the weekend before. This is the plan, and I'm going to bust ass to make it happen. Again, learned not to get my hopes up about anything anymore, but I want this - and I will make it work if possible.

On a different personal note - since Bruce has graduated, he has moved out into his own apartment - funnily enough, the same complex where I'm on a list for a one-bedroom... he's doing very well - finished his CNA training, and now in the market for a job. Luckily he doesn't have to pay rent until he gets one. I'm extremely proud of him and hope that he keeps up the good stuff... so go Bruce!

Well, it was a big one, but I think I got everything in. And I'm really going to try and be better at updating, like I was before, so I can make somewhat smaller blog posts, lol.

The weather is gorgeous in Ely, NV!

Relying On Others

You just can't do it. You can NOT rely on other people - okay, I get it now... took me awhile, I'll admit it - but I know now. What's funny, is the same people you CAN'T rely on, expect you to do what you say... what's up with that? Why is it that I follow through with things for certain people - and yet they're able to say something to me, and not follow through??? I have a little advice to those people that can't keep their word; DON'T PROMISE ANYTHING!! That way you don't have to keep a promise. Especially if you're not planning on keeping it anyway - if you're not planning on keeping it - DON'T MAKE IT!!!!!! Got it? Good, thanks.

Now that that's off my chest...

NINE DAYS until I get my satellite ordered - and hopefully not long after that it will be hooked up. I mean, True Blood's third season starts on June 13th, and Big Brother 12 starts in July! TWO shows that I like to watch... just in time eh? ;-)

Amazingly busy week this week - tomorrow afternoon is "Warm Up America" (where we get together and make blankets for the needy) - then tomorrow night is "Sit & Stitch". Thursday Bruce is graduating (YAY!!), and Friday is the second basket in the series (IF we have time)... so yeah, lots to do - LOTS to do...

I love when I'm busy, makes time go so much faster. :-)

12 DAYS!!!!!!!!

Tomorrow Bruce turns 18 - then Thursday is his graduation from High School... he was just over here today, and we discussed just how close he came to not having a graduation - but he's graduating... I'm very proud of him - he really pulled himself up these last few weeks. He'll be officially an adult too, and he's moving out of his mother's house the day after graduation... I think they're all ready - at least, I hope they are.

Last week I picked up a new skill - basket weaving;

It's something Deb decided she wanted to try, so she signed us both up for a series of classes. One series = four baskets, so we have three more to make... it's supposed to be every week, depending on our instructor's schedule. As for me, I really enjoy it - I'm so proud that I was able to actually MAKE this basket - yes, it took around six hours, but look at it! Job well done I'd have to say. :-) By the way, it's about 11 inches tall (including handle), and nine inches across... so it's a pretty decent size too. It's called a Market Basket. Our next basket is an Apple Basket, and I've seen it... there are more series of classes, but I'm not sure right now if we're signing up for them - I would like to, but we'll have to wait and see...

One more thing I've done this week - and it was definitely a labor of love... I built a website dedicated to the people closest to me in this world... I'll be working on it off and on in the future - but the gist of it is already online. You can check it out HERE.

My phone has been turned off again, and when I can, I am getting a new phone with a new provider - it will be cheaper, and it will be unlimited, unlimited, unlimited - you can't beat that. :-)

ONLY 12 MORE DAYS TILL SATELLITE!!!!!!!!!!!

15 Days & Counting

Time is moving SOOOOOOOO slow, it's crazy. And it's not like I'm not trying to keep myself busy. I've been doing stuff every day! Today's schedule is simple, clean house then go to Sit & Stitch for three & a half hours. Tomorrow Bruce is coming over so we can get the yard cleaned up (I'm actually going to pay him for this)... that will take awhile. Nothing is planned for Friday, yet, but give me time and I'll MAKE something happen, lol...

Once I get the satellite hooked up - it's all gravy from there... so it's no wonder that I am keeping track and counting down the days until it happens. I'll feel like a normal person once I have television, lol. I'M NOT AMISH!!!

Oh, and look what my sister made for me - I WISH I looked like this, lol:

Anyway, so yeah - that's what is going on at this time... 15 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Counting Down the Days...

So, to be precise, there's only 18 more days before I have my satellite finally hooked up. I know this probably isn't a big deal to many - but you try living without ANY television at all, in your home, for six months - and then come back to me about it. Of course, this is only for people that actually watch TV - not the ones that don't believe in it, or are Amish or something. Yes, I am finally able to take the plunge and get it done... thanks mostly to the people that have hired me recently to re-design their website... :-)

It's funny - today I was over at my friend's house (obviously watching her TV, lol) - and I actually got excited when I thought of how close it was to having my TV hooked up. I truly did. I looked at her with this big shit-eating grin on my face and said "Oh my god! I'm going to have a working TV in less than a month!" She just laughed at me. I don't care though - I happen to know for a fact that she wouldn't be able to go without for so long. Oh she SAYS she could - but I promise you, she couldn't.

Anyway, so yeah, that's what's happening in 18 days.

As for today - it was laundry day... that's why I was at my friend's house. She lets me use her washer and dryer for free if I buy my own soap... this is much better than the $3.00 a load it would cost me in the laundromat. I don't trust the laundromat anyway - it's always empty (though always open) when we drive by. I wonder if it's as haunted as the Hotel Nevada... at any rate, I'd rather not go there...

While the laundry was being done, my friend and I went to the front yard with all her Husky puppies, so she could get some more pictures of them. I loved playing with the puppies - I can't believe they're almost 5 weeks old already. Time sure does fly when it comes to animals... like MY puppy... he's getting absolutely huge! Good thing I'm training him to be an outside dog. A few more months and he probably won't even be able to FIT in my little trailer, lol. But no worries, he's very happy - and he's definitely one of the smartest dogs I've ever had (which isn't saying a lot since I haven't had many, lol).

Okay, I think that's about it for now... got a lot to do this week. I'm seriously trying to keep myself as busy as possible so time will go faster for me. I mean, after all, it's only 18 MORE DAYS!!!! Oh yeah!

I'm So Hungry!!

I got up this morning all ready to have a bowl of cereal - then a ton of things started happening, and I had to put it off... fast forward two hours; now I'm starving, lol. I think I'm gonna make some french toast. :-)

Lots going on - will update with a real blog entry later.

New Layout!!

I'll probably change it again in the future - but for now, I think it's cute. :-) Getting the hang of this layout thing obviously, lol...

Today I've gotta run around again - not too many places, but getting dog & cat food is the first priority (and cat litter too)... I think this is the first time I've had THREE animals at once, other than all cats I mean, lol. It's good though. I love my puppy, and the cats are loving the fact that he's now an "outside" dog. So everything is working out really well...

On the television front - I SHOULD (SHOULD) be getting satellite next month (fingers AND toes crossed)... probably won't get the big package at first, but I'll have SOMETHING. It's funny, because by the time I do get it hooked up, my shows will be either finished (like The Amazing Race), or at least close to being finished. So I guess I'll just have to find other things to watch. No worries, I'm sure I'll be able to entertain myself with something.

TWO paying projects have been placed with me - one, I'm definitely taking over the website for the store that I crochet at - and this is good. The site as it is now is just not very good... sorry, but it's true... and between me and the owners, we should - we WILL - be able to come up with something better. The other project I'm taking on is painting advertisements for the show corrals... so when they put on events, they'll have signs up like you see in a major ball field. They're supplying the paints, boards, etc... and I am doing the art. It's decent pay, and it will be kind of fun...

Let me tell you, I'm really looking forward to making a little extra cash for summer...

Well, that's all the updates for now - hope you like the new layout! :-)

Neighbors and Such

So I finally really get into conversation with the people that live behind me... they're pretty nice actually - lending me a hammer yesterday so I could finish the fencing for the dog-yard. The woman's name is Dee (really, it is) - and though I haven't been formally introduced to her husband, we've chatted a couple of times and he seems very nice. They also have two kids, a boy and a girl, both under five - and both incredibly adorable. I just wish they're back yard was a little further away from my bedroom wall (it's less than ten feet). Other than that, they're nice people, and I'm glad I'm getting to know the families around me. Makes me feel a little safer when I know my neighbors.

Another thing that's good about me getting to know more people, is that Deb and I are reaching our breaking point. This happens when we spend too much time together - and considering the fact that I haven't hung out with ANYONE else except her and her family since I got here - I would say we've definitely been spending too much time together. Don't get me wrong, I love all of them - but every day (or almost) for the last five months is a little too much... just a little. I'm grateful that they're here, but there are other people and so I'm going to try and be a bit more sociable around here.

It was different in L.A. - though I had a few friends, those friends were always busy with their lives and careers.... so the few times I DID see them, it was really nice. Definitely quality time. And the times in between were sporadic enough that we actually missed each other. VERY different than here - where I don't know anyone at all.

Anyway, so I'm trying to change that... and for a shy introvert like myself, it's going to be difficult. Doable - but difficult.

Wish me luck!

Bad Start...

Have had an amazingly bad start already this morning - I can only hope it gets better as time goes on...

First, the puppy had another accident. This, after having several of them last night - and I didn't even feed him before this morning. My whole house smells of dog mess -and I am not happy about that.

THEN, when putting the puppy outside - my cat Crookshanks decided to jump out as well. He still won't come back in - even when I tempt him with food. One thing about me; I won't chase an animal that obviously wants to play "chase". Hopefully the cat will want to come back in before I head over to the corrals today - because I'll be gone for awhile.

Anyway, so this is how my day has started.

I hate being pissed off first thing in the morning.

Just Goin' With the Flow...

Things are happening - for the good right now, and I'm glad about it... it usually comes in waves, a little bad, a little good... haven't figured out how even it is, but right now it's ALL good.

Got pics of my puppy!! Here's a cute shot:

He's so adorable - I just love him... and just recently he learned to jump onto the bed - so at night it's me in the middle, with Crookshanks in front of me, and Shadow curled up against my back (I sleep on my side)... very cozy with the three of us, lol.

FINALLY was approved for utility assistance - this will help with my electric bill every month... this is very good news as my check was cut again (as I said before), and I need all the help I can get because of it...

Phone has been re-activated, and satellite (hopefully) next month... yes, good times right now. VERY good times. :-)

Death – and the Living Left Behind

I’m not sure exactly how old I was the last time I saw her – but I was very young.  But I remember her as if I saw her only yesterday.  I remember going to her house, in a wooded area – full of kids and dogs and cats.  So many kids – running around, yelling, playing – just having fun.  Not a care in the world.  We’d sit up on the fence…  try to get the puppies that were under the house…  watch the older boys play and steal apples…  sit on the porch swing…  listen to the big people talk.  I don’t remember where we all slept, or even if I slept there – but I remember my Aunt Patty.  How calm she seemed, even in that crazy kid-filled house.  I believe she had 14 kids, but I could be wrong – they never stood still long enough for me to count them, lol…  I do know there were a lot of them.  For some odd reason I don’t remember my Aunt’s husband…  that’s odd…  anyway, I will think of her often, as I always have.  My Aunt Patty passed away this evening -  pneumonia (complications from cancer, that she had on the run) – surrounded by the family that live close to her.  In St. Joe, MO.  She was my father’s youngest sister, and he’s devastated tonight.  I wish I could call him and talk to him – tell him I love him.  That I think about him all the time.  But since my phone has been deactivated, I can’t.  So I sent him a message and hope that he pulls through this.

You know, they say that death is just another adventure – and I’m sure that’s exactly what it is…  so the dead go on, and leave behind the ones that love them – in sorrow, and grief.  I am glad she isn’t suffering anymore – but I am sad for my father.

Rest in Peace Aunt Patty

Shadows of Cash

First of all, I was very, VERY, upset this morning when I found out my pay had been cut again – for the third time since I moved to Ely!! I don’t know what they’re playing at, but if this keeps up I won’t be able to even pay my rent – so I have to call them next week to find out what the hell is going on. Have to use Deb’s phone though because with this recent pay cut, I can’t afford to re-activate my phone… which is something else that sucks major…

Something else not so good happened today – Mark got another flat tire on his truck – THE SAME TRUCK that got the flats yesterday. Unbelievable. So we had to take care of that…

A positive note – I’ve got a dog. A puppy. His name is Shadow and he’s a black Labrador crossed with Australian Shepherd (Sheprador). He’s so sweet – only about 3 months old… and the cat that I’m keeping is already playing with him. He’s going to be trained as a service dog for my chronic depression. I’ve got tons of pictures, but they’re all on my phone so I can’t load them at this time, but here’s a pup that looks a lot like him, except Shadow is black with white toe tips and a white chest…

Australian Shepherd and labrador mix puppy in white and black

He’s going to be a big dog – so we’re going to build a fence for him. Until the fence is built, I take him out walking every few hours so he can get some exercise, plus he’s got a very long yard chain that he goes on when he’s outside and I’m not. Needless to say, I’m staying in the trailer – because I want to keep him, and he’s bonding very well with me.

Anyway, so that was my Friday.

Wow – What a Thursday

First off just let me say, I am GLAD to be home… here’s what my day was like:

Debbie picked me up earlier this afternoon to take me over to help clean the corrals – well, that didn’t work for two reasons; the crazy blizzard snow/hail and the tire on the little tractor was flat. Then guess what? The tire on the TRUCK we were driving went flat. So… we take the truck over to have the tire fixed, and then we started driving out into the middle of nowhere to a place where Debbie was going to buy a colt. On the way there, IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE, the tire went flat AGAIN!! I wish I was joking, but I’m not… needless to say, we were all pissed and cold, and ready to call it a day. However, the people that fixed the tire the first time came out and replaced it. No more flat tires! Yay!!

flat_tire_edited_size

We got to the place where Deb wanted to get a colt, and she found a male that she liked – she bought it for 100 dollars! I was surprised it was that inexpensive! Anyway, I brought something home too, but I won’t say what until I can get pictures – and no, it wasn’t a horse, lol.

So yeah, I’m very, VERY, glad to finally be home again… tomorrow we have an early start - phone gets turned back on!! - and I need to get supplies…

That’s it – that’s what happened today.

D

Blah, Blah, Blah…

So, I did NOT go to sit & stitch last night – even though Deb did everything to change my mind, including take me to McDonald’s for a couple of double cheeseburgers (no onions or pickles please)…

double_cheeseburger

I just didn’t feel like it would be a good idea seeing as I have a cold and there is one person that can’t be around sick people because her immune system is practically non-existent at this time. I’m still working at home on my projects, and there’s still Tuesday’s class – so it’s all good…

crochet

I’m SO glad tomorrow is payday – gotta get my phone reactivated, and I’m thinking of going to another plan – a unlimited plan. I figured it’s only ten dollars more than I’m paying, and it will be nice not to have to watch minutes… I loved MetroPCS for that reason. Glad T-Mobile has that option…

Later this afternoon, Deb is picking me up to go to the corral. Guess the horses are going to be shod – and she doesn’t want to be stuck there with just her husband… I think the two of them need to take a break from each other – but, I know it’s none of my business… I just hate to see people having problems…

Anyway, that’s about it – laterz!!

Hoping…

Had enough of the wind lately – that’s the truth… however, I am really looking forward to the thunderstorm we’re supposedly having today – I love curling up and listening to thunder and lightning, honest. I just hope my power doesn’t go out, lol.

Have Sit & Stitch tonight, though I’m thinking about staying home because one of the ladies has bone marrow cancer and I think I’m coming down with a cold. I don’t want to give it to her if I am… we’ll see how I feel later – and if I feel like I feel now, I’ll just tell Debbie I’m not going…

Anyway, got some stuff to do around the house so I’d better get on it…

Waiting Lists & Weather

So I actually dropped off TWO applications for the apartment(s) today... there are two different management companies, but I would have the same amenities at both places - including rental costs. Unfortunately, they BOTH have decent size waiting lists - though neither of them could tell me how long the wait would be, they both said it would be awhile. That's okay, I'm up for the wait - I know it will be worth it. Saw a floor plan and it was FABULOUS! So much space - so clean - but again, don't want to get TOO excited, just have that small hope - and we'll see...

OMG - the WIND again!! I swear if this trailer didn't have a cement foundation it would have rolled away... it's gusting up to 60mph - and the last time that happened weather.com warned about property damage. Although, to be honest, there's not much more damage that could be done to this trailer - it's far from top of the line. Back to the weather - this is just the beginning of a four day rain and/or snow storm heading our way - yay, lol. Seriously, I love it - just wish I didn't have to run around in it starting tomorrow... but it's all good.

PHONE WILL BE BACK ON THIS FRIDAY!!!!!

D

Going Against the Grain

What I mean by that is that we’re breaking ritual today. Usually Tuesday’s are just class days – but today we’re adding a couple of different things into the mix. First, Deb is picking me up to go with her to her Dr.’s appointment. It seems that Compound W (the gel, not the freeze off kind, see pic below) can burn your skin – that’s what happened to her, and it did it in a very violent manner… so heads up to anyone who reads this… this is what the pharmacist told her about Compound W: First of all, it’s too strong for a woman’s sensitive skin – however, if you MUST use it, put vaseline around the wart BEFORE applying the medication – then, make sure it is COMPLETELY DRY before covering. If you don’t do these things, you could lose some skin.

375137585073

After the doctor we’re dropping off my application for the apartment… it’s just a formality really – they need my information for records only… I’ve already been told I can get a place as soon as one opens. This application will cover two complexes – but we’re pretty sure which one I’ll get in to.

After that, I have no idea what we’re going to do before our 1 o’clock class. Maybe go have lunch somewhere? Hope so…

One more thing - I just checked the weather for Ely, and starting tomorrow we're going to have rain and/or snow for at least four days... I would be immensely happy about this if Friday and Saturday weren't shopping days... oh well, lol.

So that’s my busy day…

New Apartment (?)

I do love my trailer – and when I say this I mean I love having a place by myself…  however, today I found out something incredible, which means in time I will be moving out.  I found a place that’s really nice, VERY affordable, and just all around better than where I live now.  It is an apartment complex called Steptoe Terrace – and it’s immaculately clean, it’s quiet, and it overlooks the Ely cemetery…  the only downside of all of this is that I have to go on a waiting list to get in.  I’ve learned patience (since I haven’t even had television for five months), so if I have to wait to get in there, I will.  Though talking to one of the managers today, my waiting might not be that long.

I looked for a picture of the complex, but couldn’t find one.  I’ll take some when I get my phone turned back on – so I can show everyone.

I’m really excited about this – don’t want to get my hopes up TOO high, but I can’t help but look forward to it a little bit.  Who wouldn’t?

D

Why I Want to be Somewhere Else this Weekend

I love Ely, I truly do – but I have to say, I would rather be in Vegas, or Los Angeles, this weekend. Here’s why… I have two good friends that are going to be performing – one, Natalie (pictured left below), will be doing a musical this Friday and Saturday in Los Angeles… the other one, Kristine (pictured right), will be singing at the Pride in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

natalie kristine

If I had a car, I would drive to Los Angeles to see Natalie in her musical on Friday – then drive up to Las Vegas to catch Kristine’s show on Saturday… and if I had MORE money, I would fly up to New York to see Christy in “White’s Lies” on Sunday.

15009_388046601699_325852706699_4519047_5622763_n

Yup, that’s what I would do if I were rich and had a car.

I like to support my friends. :-)

D

I MISS TV!!!

Yes, I have the option to watch certain shows on the internet – but I really miss just relaxing on the sofa while watching Discovery, or Animal Planet.  I am SO close to getting satellite hooked up it’s not even funny…  I’m only 40 dollars short of it in my budget – it’s ridiculous!  If only they would bill me the deposit in payments, and I could have it all hooked up by next week…

I don’t think I’ve ever gone this long without television – and until the last couple of weeks, I was doing pretty well…  but now I have to admit it, I miss it.

Maybe something will turn around before Friday – that’s what I keep hoping for.

Internet

You know what’s strange? Okay, I had to restore my computer the other night (Saturday), and of course had to re-install everything… getting most, if not all, the software offline – either from the official sites, or saved email… obviously I had to connect to the internet to be able to do so. Fast forward to today – having installed most of the software I lost yesterday, I was surprised that I wasn’t able to connect to the internet this morning. AT&T re-figured my account. Now WHY did this not happen when I restored my computer? WHY did the have to re-figure my account TODAY when I was already using the internet all day yesterday? Did they not know that my computer had re-figured itself? Do they have to be involved with EVERYTHING? Seriously though, I wasted an hour with this crap and it was stupid, as I had already done it… guess THEY have to be the ones that do it. Perhaps to make sure it’s done right? I don’t know, I just thought the whole thing was weird.

Interesting Ely, NV Trivia

No, we’re not TOO boring here… check this out;
Film history
  • The climactic scene to the 2001 movie Rat Race was filmed in Ely, in and around the restored train depot of the railway museum.
  • Operation Haylift (1950) by director William A. Berke, is about a historical event that took place in White Pine County. George N. Swallow was portrayed by Joe Sawyer. Sawyer was also the producer and co-screenplay writer for the film.
  • Roadside Prophets (1992), an independent film directed by Abbe Wool.
  • My Blueberry Nights (2007), was directed by Wong Kar Wai.
  • Play Dead (2008), a film directed by Jason Wiles.
  • Guncrazy (1992), starring Drew Barrymore

Pretty cool huh? :-)

Dreaming

I usually like remembering my dreams – but sometimes…  like last night I had two really weird ones.  One of them had my friend C in it, and that one wasn’t TOO bad – though it made me miss her when I woke up…  the other one, on the other hand, was the one I remember in ALL detail, and wish I could forget.  I won’t say who was in it (don’t want that person to see this and think something), but it was FREAKY and I didn’t like it at all…  why can’t you control who you have a dream about??

I usually read “Pleasant Dreams” by Amy E. Dean, before I go to sleep – perhaps I should have done that last night…  I was so busy trying to fix my computer that I forgot all about it.  Let’s see what the meditation is for April 25th:

When was the last time I experienced “a good read”?  I’ll look forward to spending at least one night a week with a hot cup of tea, soothing background music, a comfortable chair or the support of a few pillows, and a good book.

That’s great – that would have put me in the right mood…  ah well, here’s to dreaming – and good ones at that!

BEWARE!!!

I learned this the HARD way, and thank goodness for PYZAM…  but if you go looking for Blogger templates, you could get a VIRUS on your computer!!  I don’t know which page did it, but I got a virus and had to restore the whole computer to get rid of it – meaning I was up WAY later than normal, and had to re-install ALL of my software (which at this point isn’t quite done)…  it’s a pain in the ASS so I’m just warning everyone about it so it doesn’t happen to you…  I wish I could tell you what page did it, but I’m not sure, and I’m sorry about that.  But take my word for it – it happened, and I’m PISSED about it.

Anyway, that’s enough for tonight, I’m going to bed!

Using Live Writer

I am using Live Writer again for this blog – because it keeps me from having to go to the actual blog to update…  does this make me lazy?  I don’t think so – I think it makes me sufficient – which sounds a lot better, lol.  Besides, I may have something quick to say – and this is faster – see?

It also allows easy formatting – adding a picture or video is so fast.  And it’s easy to use too!  :)  No, I don’t work for Windows (I WISH I DID), so I’m not trying to sell anything – besides, it’s free anyway.  You just have to have a Windows Live account, and then download the software – easy peasy.

So yeah, that’s about it.

D

Somehow, I Managed

I actually did something right - not that I do wrong all the time, lol... but I'm proud of what I've accomplished... you might think it's trivial - but figuring out how to move ALL my other blog entries from WordPress (which included even older entries from LJ) to this particular blog took something doing let me tell you... but, I'll also tell you that I DID IT!! Yup, I was able to merge everything together so I only have to use this blog from now on. I am proud, yes I am. :-)

There are some cool sites that explain it actually - so they get a lot of the credit. Thank you to THIS SITE's PAGE to be precise.

So there you go - all my journal entries (that were on LJ and Wordpress) for the last five years - have been moved and merged to this place.

Yay!

D

I Was KIDNAPPED!!!!

No, I'm just kidding - it wasn't really a kidnap, I mean, I'm far from being a kid - and I got in the car under my own volition... so no, it wasn't a kidnap. Debbie just came by when she got off work this morning and asked if I wanted to drive around with her to do a couple of errands - then we ended up back at her house to eat chili cheese dogs and watch movies (Beauty Shop with Queen Latifah) - so today was a little different than the last three days...

We also stopped by Family Dollar, where she proceeded to buy me a big jug of Hawaiian Punch (Juicy Red), and a bag of knock-off Cheetos... which I didn't ask for but was happy to get. :)

I was trying to remember something when we left her house, something that she was going to give me - but I didn't recall until I was home and she had driven away (DAMN not having a phone! LOL) - but what I needed were batteries! She had a couple for me and we both forgot about it. Oh well, hopefully I'll remember on Tuesday.

Starting a new project - hopefully it will come out okay. No pics until my phone is fixed on the 30th though - sorry...

That's it - that's all - I'm done for now.

D

It's Early

I hate waking up early - but I think it's because of the light that shines into the bathroom window... and since there are no doors in my trailer (only hallways), I have no protection from it. I probably need to buy a curtain to put up between the bathroom and the bedroom - so I don't get blinded when I wake up in the morning...

I was going to go to the library today - but it's closed on Saturdays, so I don't know what I'm going to do, if anything... hopefully today won't be as boring as yesterday...

6 more days until my phone gets turned back on!!

Seriously

I have not ONE thing left to do today, and it's only 6 o'clock... this is CRAZY!! I guess I can start on a new crochet project - just wish I had more than one color - but it's good to practice with...

I'm definitely signing off the computer now - because there really isn't anything left for me to do, or watch... maybe tomorrow...

I Love Tina Fey - Now You Know, LOL...

Life in Ely, So Far...

This week has been boring for the most part - except Tuesday and Wednesday, I really haven't been doing anything... but watch the weather and try to stay warm (which is easy when you have oatmeal, lol).

I am SO glad I have the internet - if I couldn't watch "Survivor" and "The Amazing Race", well, I just don't know what I'd do, lol. I am REALLY looking forward to getting my satellite hooked up - it's just that every month something comes up and I have to move the date back, and back, and back - starting to drive me a little crazy.

At least my phone will be turned back on next Friday - that I do know for sure.

Anyway, that's the update, so far...

BORED!!

Yes, I'm severely bored - is that even possible?  I guess it is, because that's what I am...  I've done a lot today too - made a new personal Twitter, worked on my crochet project, read...  well, I that's not a LOT I know, but it's not like I've just been sitting around twiddling my thumbs.

I love it here - but I hate ONE thing - not having a car.  And NO car in the future either - unless I win some kind of serious jackpot - and that's not possible at the moment because I'm not in any kind of contests, lol.  Maybe someone will come along and drop a few thousand on my doorstep - HA! - like that's ever going to happen.

I'm not complaining, really, just venting.  Sometimes you have to get the negativity off your chest or you will explode.  So I'm done.  Thanks for listening.

Damn Cat

This is the SECOND time that the cat spilled water - but this time it was more water, and I wasn't in the room for the few seconds it took for the full glass to soak into my bed.  Lovely.  And since I only have ONE set of sheets at this time - I have to let it dry out before I can use the bed again.  Needless to say, I've been up all night and it's not even close to being dry - I can only hope that it's dry by the time I go to bed TONIGHT - or it's sofa city for me.  Not a great thought considering that the sofa is a love-seat, and I'm too tall for it...

Satellite next month, hopefully - that's the plan...  didn't really WANT satellite, but in this town your choices are very limited - so I guess I'll take what I can get.

Late Night w/Friends

Stayed over at Deb's last night - haven't done that in awhile, and it was fun.  First Bruce made bacon & cheese hot dogs (yummmmm), and then Deb and I checked out the puppies.  SO CUTE!!!  The littlest one, which she calls "Runt", I actually named "Cuddles" - cause when you hold him, that's what he does, he cuddles with you.  It was adorable.

Then we sat down to do some crochet work, and watched old Carol Burnett shows on DVD.  Very relaxing, very funny - just a really nice night.

The unfortunate thing is that I woke up hella early -  probably because I wasn't sleeping in my own bed...  I mean, we were up until 2am, so you would think I could sleep past 7am - but no, lol.  It's okay though - I didn't mind.

Beautiful day today - wondering when Spring is going to take hold of Ely, instead of teasing us, lol...

Taking Life as it Comes

Okay, it's not that the cable isn't available in my exact area of Ely - it's two things; one, they took my money IMMEDIATELY and it's going to take 3-5 business days to get it back.  And two, they should have known BEFORE I was even charged that they wouldn't be able to do the job here.  Is it any wonder that I contacted the BBB about them this morning?  Talk about bad business practices.

So, no cable - and I'm totally broke for the next 3 to 5 business days.

Never, NEVER, do business with CentraCom cable.

One more lovely issue - all the pipes are backed up in my bathroom.  Yes, that means the toilet too.  Why do they always want to blame you?  They even had the nerve to ask me if I had flushed a wash cloth - I kid you not.  Needless to say, no wash cloths were flushed...  waiting for them to come back and scratch their heads some more.

All of this, and I'm actually doing okay - go figure.

Eostre - and Puppies...

Had a really good day at Deb's yesterday.  Ate a great meal - ham, baked potatoes, corn, buttery biscuits, and banana cream pie for desert (no chocolate dammit!!) - then vegged out and watch television all day.

Jenna (Deb's Husky) was in her birthing pen all day as well - waiting...  every hour or so, one of us would get up to check on her to see how she was doing, or to let her out to use the bathroom.  But, she didn't have her puppies until this morning - so I missed it.  3 girls and 2 boys - and unfortunately the picture that I was sent over the phone was a little blurry.  Hopefully I'll see the babies tomorrow and get a better shot of them.  If they look anything like the litter before, I'm sure they're adorable.  :)

Anyway, so I had a great day yesterday.  It was nice to just relax and not do anything, lol.

Today, hopefully, cable will be hooked up and running.

Is it any wonder I'm in a fantastic mood?  :)

So Far...

Well, I didn't fix the color issue after all - and now my CD drive isn't reading - so I'm working on getting a website job so I can buy a new computer...   and what else is going on?

Ely is an interesting little town.  I've met a few people, and they've been pretty nice.  The weather has been back and forth - right now it's really windy, yet pretty warm - we're actually supposed to be getting more snow/rain this week, but we'll see.  I love my trailer!  I love having my own little house where I do what I want, when I want, and I don't have to worry about upsetting anyone...  it's so nice.  I do so much better on my own...  Debbie has been taking her horse out to do ground work with him - soon we'll be able to get in the saddle and ride (not together of course, lol) - and I'm really looking forward to that.  Been doing a lot of crochet work too - and that's kind of fun.  Getting my cable FINALLY in the next two weeks - can't even begin to describe what it's been like with no TV...  can't wait for that.

I can't lie - I DO miss a few people - but I'm happy just the same.  Maybe a trip somewhere soon to visit...

And that's about it - fast update!  ;-)

I Did It (I Think)

I had a feeling that the problem I was having with my color on my computer had something to do with the tower being shifted around quite a bit while getting the internet set up...  soooooo...  tonight I opened the tower and made sure everything was plugged in tightly.  Imagine my surprise, and delight, when I started up the computer and it showed all the beautiful colors it was supposed to.  Yay!

I am not a mechanic in any sense of the word - so you can be sure I am happy that this worked and I don't have to go out and purchase another graphics card with money that isn't there - yikes.

So, my computer is back in decent working order - and I'm happy as a clam (what does that mean anyway?  how happy ARE clams?)...

Elko, NV

Left the house this morning at 6am, to make the drive into Elko, NV...  where there is a Wal-Mart.  Why Wal-Mart?  It's because I KNEW I'd be able to find a decent pay as you go phone.  And I did.  A T-Mobile Complete package which included a camera phone and one month of free service.  1,000 anytime minutes (free nights & weekends), and unlimited messaging (including text, picture & IM) for only $50.00 a month.  Yup.  Same as my Metro PCS.  So, a cheaper deal - and one that I know I won't have a problem with.  I've been with T-Mobile before and I never had a complaint (except when I had low service at a friend's apartment in Hollywood, lol)...

Elko itself was interesting.  Why TWO Burger Kings when we don't even have ONE???  Who knows, lol...  but it was a good day - nice to get out of Ely for a bit.  Think we should do it more often.  :)

No Phone...

Well, they finally did it - they shut off my phone.  I'll remember NEVER to use Alltel again - I've never had so much trouble with a phone service in my life, and I though Sprint was bad.

Anyway, I plan on getting a new phone the beginning of next month - a pay as you go phone - or something from WalMart...  something easier to use.

I sure miss my MetroPCS phone.

Microwave Chicken

So, I don't have propane yet for my stove - ergo, I have to cook my chicken in the microwave.  I've never done this before, but I've looked around online and got a few ideas - I just hope something works, I don't want to waste this chicken...

It was warmer today than usual - 50 degrees.  And luckily the wind wasn't blasting down from the mountains and freezing us out with the wind chill...  we did have wind, but it was a warm wind.  I think it's what they call a "chinook" - that spring wind?  The one that lets you know that warm weather is on its way.  Tomorrow is our last day of snow, at least I think so - we'll have to wait and see.  Good thing the Spring Fling Craft Fair is indoors, lol.

Still Shaking

Just found out that there's at least ONE way I do NOT like to be woken up...  and that's by a crashing sound of any kind!  I love my cats, I swear I do - but this morning I was ready to kill them both - if I could have found them right away.  I'm sure the sound scared them too, and they were hiding.  What caused the sound?  Well, I'll SHOW you:

[caption id="attachment_524" align="aligncenter" width="500" caption="The TV's Down"]The TV's Down[/caption]

Yep, the little shits knocked my large TV off the shelf...  thank goodness this TV is resilient - it's been through a LOT and it STILL works!  Not that I can watch it yet - but I check and there were no breaks or cracks, and when I plug it in I still get what I got before they knocked it down...  lucky for them!

So yeah, not a good way to wake up in the morning.  Honestly, at first I thought it was someone breaking down my front door - so I guess I was a little relieved when I saw the television.

Two things to mention - one, the color is still on my computer - guess it's fixed for good...  and two, my phone is still working - which is a shock, but I'm glad about that too...

Oh, and it snowed at least 2 inches last night...  :-)

Phone - Computer - Etc...

So, early last evening my color popped back onto my computer, and so far has stayed.  I don't want to get too excited though because it does have a habit of coming and going.  I've done everything I can to make sure it stays, but...  I think I'll talk to my friend Cindy tomorrow and see if she'll just give me the other computer, not just the monitor.

My phone is still working - however, I think it's scheduled for shut-off at midnight tonight.  I don't know WHY that money hasn't gone through.  It's not on the card, and according to the gift card website, it was charged for Alltel - it just hasn't posted yet.  I wonder why it's taking so damn long.  Like I said before though, I will NEVER buy another VISA gift card - I've never had such a headache about a bill in my effing life!

Looks like we're going to have some sun for awhile today - which is nice.  I don't mind the snow, don't get me wrong, but people need a little sunshine too - we're like flowers that way.  :-)

Alice, etc...

So "Alice in Wonderland" opened today - one of the FEW movies coming out this year that I'm interested in seeing...  but will I ever see it?  In the theaters, I mean...  probably not.  Hopefully the one theater here will have it in a couple of months, but I won't hold my breath.  Oh well, just one more disappointment...

My phone has a 5 day extension - meaning if they don't get the money by Monday, it's going to be shut off -  oh goody.  I will NEVER buy another VISA gift card as long as I live...  they aren't good for anything really.  From now on, if I want to buy a gift card for someone, it will be specific for a store (ie: Old Navy, Borders, etc...).  I have my reasons.

Nice day today - got the front door open (but the screen closed) so the cats can enjoy some sun.  Nothing else planned - just another lazy day...

Slow Day - Kinda

Nothing planned for today - at first I was just going to hole up in my room all day and read, but I decided to come out and try and figure out this effin' computer problem.  I REALLY don't want another money issue (might have to buy a new graphics card) - so I'm trying to use all my computer knowledge (which unfortunately isn't much) to fix it.

I've tried a lot of different things already: getting a new monitor, downloading the driver for the card, even restoring the computer (again!) - and nothing seems to be working.

Needless to say, I'm getting a little frustrated...  if just ONE thing in my life would work out, I would be a happier person.

D

P.S. It's snowing again today...

My Phone Service

Okay, so Alltel is pretty sucky right now - so much so that I could possibly be losing my phone on Friday...  seems they don't accept VISA gift cards...  so I think I may have wasted 50 bucks (in the long run).  At this moment it looks like I was only able to pay HALF of the bill - and if that's the case, I'm hoping they're nice enough to leave my phone ON until I can pay the other half.  It's all so confusing - I won't have this issue next month though, so that's a good thing.

I have to say, if I lose my phone, I'll live.  I've gone without a phone before.

Weather

I try not to do this too often, because I don't want anyone to think I don't have anything better to do or talk about, lol - but every now and then, I want to point out the specifics of the weather here in Ely - why?  Just because - and that's my only reason, lol...

Okay, first of all, when I woke up this morning, it was only  13 degrees - not bad when you're still under the covers, but a little on the chilly side to walk about in...

Here's the forecast for the next 10 days (from weather.com):

Today Mostly Sunny                  High:44°  Low:21°

Tue Mostly Cloudy / Wind  High:46°  Low:24°

Wed Rain / Snow                       High:41°  Low:21°

Thu Snow Showers                 High:39°  Low:19°

Fri Partly Cloudy                  High:40°  Low:19°

Sat Partly Cloudy                 High: 34°  Low:18°

Sun Few Snow Showers        High:39°  Low:15°

Mon Snow Shower                   High:41°  Low:17°

Tue Partly Cloudy                  High:44°  Low:16°

Wed Partly Cloudy                  High:45°  Low:20°

Some lows, but actually not as low as it has been believe me.  You don't know cold until you wake up and it's negative something, lol...  those are the days I stay in the bedroom with the good heater, lol...

Anyway, so that's what the weather is going to be like here for the next few days - just thought you might like to know.  ;-)

Today - I'm heading out this morning to help Deb feed the animals - the horses, chickens and goats.  We don't usually do this because it's her husband's job, but his hours are different at work for the next three days, so someone has to do it - and she asked me to help.  Whatever - gets me up in the morning.

Later we have errands to run...  money stuff - the bank, Family Dollar, etc...  did I mention today is the 1st of the month and a payday of mine?  So yeah, lots of things to do...

Better get going actually - still have to dress.

Crafty

I'm picking up some new crafty skills and I'm quite proud of it actually.  I'm learning to crochet - have learned two stitches already and will probably get a third under my belt next Tuesday...  AND I'm doing some cross-stitching - which I've done in school but it's been awhile...  I haven't lost my touch though, still remember how to do it - and the kit that Deb gave me to work on for her, though extremely involved, is going to turn out quite nicely I think.  It's really cool to make things yourself - been thinking about using my new skills to make gifts for my loved ones...  although I think I need to get a little better, lol.

I will say I'm having a lot of fun though - and that's what is most important right?

What?!? Ugh! Not AGAIN!!!

I am SO tired of some of the drama that's going on here in Ely. However, I know exactly who is causing it all and I've already told this person that I'm not dealing with it anymore. I didn't come all this way to put up with the same bullshit that I left behind in Los Angeles. I hope that I don't have to stop seeing this person, but if that's what it takes to lead a non-stressful life, then so be it. Not many chances left - so this person either get it together, or just stay away from me with all the shit. That's my final word on the subject.

D

Painting

I never realized how difficult it is to paint - and I don't mean watercolors, I mean painting walls in a house...  I thought we were going to just grab the brushes and go to it - but my friend wanted two colors, one for trim and a main color.  Today we did all the trimming.  I was at her house from 10 o'clock this morning, until 5 o'clock this evening - and that's with only about 45 minutes for dinner.  Tomorrow we paint the main color...  she said it would be easier, but that was before her husband reminded her of all the tape-work that would have to be done to protect the trimming we just painted today.  I see a full day at my friend's - and then 3 to 4 hours at circle tomorrow night.

I dare someone to say I'm not sociable, lol.

Here Kitty Kitty

I promised one - so here it is - a picture of my cats...  Luna is the black one, and Crookshanks is the orange and white.  I know it looks as if Luna is bigger, but it's just because she was closer to the camera - Crookshanks is HUGE compare to her.  :)

[caption id="attachment_503" align="aligncenter" width="500" caption="Luna and Crookshanks"][/caption]

Busy Day

Though I've still got the flu (and TTOTM started yesterday as well), I have a lot of work around the house to take care of today - as well as a sit down conversation with my adopted sister and nephew to clear the air about some things - so it will be a busy day.

Question - has anyone else had a serious pop-up problem once their DSL was hooked up?  Thank goodness for Super Anti-Spyware, cause that shit was driving me crazy.

I'm just sayin'...

D

Internet - FINALLY!!

I've been in Ely for six+ weeks now, and I FINALLY got my internet going last night...  not many options for it here, in this very very small and snowy town - but, AT&T gave me a good deal last week and I said "Let's DO this!" - so now I'm back online and happier than a pig in...  well, you know how that goes, lol.

Anyway, I love it here - regardless of the difficulties in getting internet (& cable television, which I'm still working on) - it's quiet, cooler (we've had a plethora of snow since I arrived), and just all around less-stressful than anywhere else that I've ever lived.

I have my own place - a small trailer - with no neighbors above or below me...  the FIRST time I've lived alone in my own dwelling...  and it's about time!  :)

I have two cats - Luna and Crookshanks - who are sweet rescue cats, and both just under a year old.  I'll post a picture of them soon, I promise.

I have my adopted family here - and my adopted sister and I have decided to be a little more crafty and have started to learn crochet (I swear my patience isn't good for this, but she took to it like a duck to water) - every Tuesday afternoon we have class, and every Wednesday evening we get together with other women from around town to socialize and sew...  yeah, it's a sewing circle, but it's actually fun.  Not at all what I expected when I was originally invited.

I've been asked quite a few times from people that I know - WHY Ely?  There are a few answers to that: I've never been here, or anywhere around here before and it's something new... I got tired of the hustle, bustle, fast-track, judgmental, and just all-around bad attitudes I've found in the larger cities....  I wanted to live somewhere where it NEVER hit triple-degree heat...  I wanted to be around the people that have shown me in the past that while they do have their own lives, they still care about what happens to me...  AND, the best reason?  Well, I needed to be in a smaller town to spend my final days without the stress that I've been dealing with for the last 20 or so years of my life.

Now, if those answers aren't sufficient enough for anyone - well, that's their problem.  I'm happy and relaxed now - and ready to settle for good.

Yes, I miss certain people - but those people know how I feel, and how to get in touch with me...  I haven't left anyone, I've just finally found myself.

D
