So I just got back from throwing out a bowl - in it was a few pieces of cereal (peanut butter crunch), about an inch and a half of milk, and a dead mouse. That's what I said, a dead mouse. The poor thing drowned in the milk because the sides of the bowl were too steep for it to get out. I was going to wait until my roommate got home to dispose of it - but I couldn't have it in my room anymore, and once I took it out of my room, I figured I would just take it all the way out to the dumpster. So that's what I did. I guess I've accidentally invented a new and ecologically sound mouse-trap. Ecologically sound because no poisons were involved. Still very disturbing though - because I KNEW the mouse was in my room. It ran in here a few days ago to get away from the cat... it ran in here for SAFETY reasons! And what happens? It tries to get a little something to eat, and is drowned for its efforts. I feel so bad because mice don't bother me - I have three hamsters for chrissake!! I know I didn't do it on purpose, but I still feel responsible. And Karma is a bitch, because while tossing the bowl into the dumpster, I inadvertently tossed my cell phone in there too. Lovely. Climbing into a trash dumpster is bad enough, but knowing a dead wet mouse was in there too made me even more hesitant. However, I had to get my phone, so in I went. Got the phone. Learned a lesson. End of story.
