Everyone has been asking me about the earthquake that we had here on Sunday evening. Sorry folks, I was on the subway at the time, on the way home from Long Beach, and didn't feel a thing. Honestly. My roommate and I weren't even aware of it until we got home, and then people started calling about it - and I watched the news.
I guess it was pretty dramatic - a 4.7 (though at first they said it was a 5) - and centered in Hawthorne. A store in Long Beach lost its windows too (funny that we had just left there). I consider us lucky that we weren't burried underground, lol. But seriously - no, we didn't feel a thing.
Watching the news was a little scary, just a little - but they were talking about what people should have in their emergency kits and stuff like that - you know, to get ready for "the big one". And everything I learned growing up is false - you do NOT stand in a doorway, or go outside. Where's the best place to go during an earthquake? Under a table. Yup, that's what the experts say - at least according the local news experts. So we have ONE table in the house - and we won't fit under it together. I guess a game of "rock, paper, scissors" will decide.
Let's just hope there's no "big one" while I am walking this earth, lol. And if there is - I'll do what I have to do to survive - and no, I won't shoot the roommate.
